Sephora will introduce an Olive Young-curated assortment of 19 Korean beauty brands, including Abib, BANILA CO, WHIPPED, and Torriden, to more than 500 U.S. stores and Sephora.com starting August 20, anchored by a dedicated Olive Young K-beauty space at its Times Square flagship in New York City. The brands were selected by Olive Young based on product performance, consumer popularity, and trend leadership in Korea, marking the first market activation of a global partnership that builds on Sephora's legacy as a beauty brand incubator and Olive Young's 27 years as Korea's top beauty and health retailer. Expansion is planned to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand later this year, followed by the Middle East, the UK, and Australia in 2027.
Why Does This Matter for Beauty Brands?
Sephora is now embedding Olive Young's curation directly into its own retail network. Olive Young already operates its own U.S. stores, but this integration puts its curation inside Sephora's much larger footprint—500+ doors plus a dedicated flagship space—putting far more Korean brands in front of far more Sephora shoppers than either retailer reaches alone. Indie and emerging brands watching this rollout should expect buyers to raise the bar on packaging, since shoppers will now be comparing new entrants directly against an Olive Young-vetted lineup known for trend leadership and proven performance in Korea.
How Will This Impact Packaging Choices?
Packaging becomes a bigger differentiator, not a smaller one. When shoppers browse a dedicated K-beauty space, format and finish do a lot of the selling—premium caps on serum droppers, cushion compacts with satisfying click mechanisms, and glass or refill-ready skincare bottles that signal quality at a glance. Brands entering this retail environment need packaging that reads as authentically Korean-market-caliber: precise tolerances, tactile finishes, and formats consumers already associate with the category, like airless pumps and compact mirrors.
Finding the Right Korean Packaging Partner
Brands competing for this kind of retail space need suppliers already building for it. Korean manufacturers like Samhwa, FS Korea, JCOP, Somang Glass, and Shinhan bring years of expertise in precision dropper bottles, airless pumps, and other skincare components, built to the durability and finish standards experiential retail requires. As Olive Young continues expanding in the U.S., brands that secure Korean packaging partners now will be ready to move quickly as new retail openings emerge.
